Water · Moss · Oak

On the southern edge of County Kilkenny, where the landscape falls towards the great waterways around Waterford, lies Rathpatrick — a place whose name preserves an ancient association with Ireland’s patron saint.

Tradition remembers a church founded here by St Patrick. The surviving ruins belong to a much later building, but the association endured, carried through centuries of worship, settlement and local memory.

Rathpatrick — A House Chronicle was created for that enduring sense of place.

Water evokes the rivers that define this landscape and the meeting of land and water below Rathpatrick. Moss recalls the weathered stone and quiet ruins of the old church. Oak brings depth and warmth — a suggestion of woodland, age and the long passage of time.

Together they create a fragrance that is cool, green and grounded: a landscape shaped by water, stone and memory.

A House Chronicle

The House Chronicles tell the stories of individual historic places and the communities that continue to remember and care for them.

A contribution from every Rathpatrick candle sold supports the ongoing care of the site — allowing a little of what Rathpatrick inspires to return to the place itself.
