The Studio Journal

From the Studio

Welcome to the Studio Journal.

This is where I share the quieter side of The Curious Chandler.

You’ll find notes from the workshop, glimpses of new collections taking shape, research visits to historic places, thoughts sparked by old manuscripts, and the many small moments that happen long before a Chronicle is ready to be welcomed into the House.

Some entries will celebrate milestones—a new fragrance perfected, the arrival of freshly printed labels, or the launch of a new collection.

Others may simply record a beautiful morning spent exploring a medieval church, a remarkable piece of history discovered in an archive, or the first signs of spring appearing in the garden.

Not every idea will become a candle.

Not every experiment will succeed.

But every Chronicle begins somewhere, and this journal is a record of that journey.

More Than a Workshop

The Curious Chandler has always been about more than making candles.

It is about slowing down.

Paying attention.

Finding beauty in craftsmanship, history and the landscapes around us.

The Studio Journal reflects that same spirit.

There are no deadlines here.

No polished advertisements.

Just honest observations from the workshop and the places that inspire it.

Following the Journey

As the House grows, so too will these pages.

You can expect to find:

  • New Chronicle announcements
  • Behind-the-scenes photographs
  • Fragrance development
  • Heritage visits
  • Research discoveries
  • Workshop preparations
  • Seasonal reflections from the garden
  • Books currently on the workbench
  • Occasional appearances by Bran, our enthusiastic four-legged quality inspector

Whether you’re interested in candle making, Irish history or simply curious about how ideas become objects, I hope you’ll enjoy following the journey.

Every Chronicle Begins Here

The finished candle is only the final chapter.

Before that come months of reading, testing, sketching, revising, visiting places, listening to stories and refining fragrances.

The Studio Journal is where those early chapters are recorded.

Thank you for joining me behind the scenes.

There’s always something new taking shape in the workshop.

A reward for your curiosity.
